I think way too many people breed now a days. Very few dogs are worth breeding .  We would have less culls and less attention on us as doggers . I bet that is one reason some lines are kept close. Also people are competitive by nature. If You had some good dogs, would you want everyone around you to have them?

Holy crap bro, great minds think alike and I guess even minds like ours too.  Wink

The competitiveness is the way I feel. I've got friends who I feel have very good dogs and I always feel like the kid playing catch up. Why would I finnaly have a comparable set of dogs and say ok sure let's spread the genetics around to the point where I go back to being the dummy with the second fiddle dogs all the time.

I'm not saying what I got is first rate mind you, just saying I finally feel like I've got a girl to bring to the prom and I ain't lettin y'all dance wit her!

and it is a great feeling when 3 or 4 horsemen come out of the woods with 10 or 12 dogs and only one hog...and the rancher say's there has to be more...they hang out right where you crossed with your dogs...then you go in with your dogs and in a few minutes hogs are struck and caught... Smiley

Training dogs is not about quantity, it's more about timing, the right situations, and proper guidance...After that it's up to the dog...
