I traveled some working when my kids were younger and quite honestly in hindsight they never knew about the nominal increase in pay and Solent have cared either. All it really did was raise the bar for my minimum income and created more bills. Money earned is money spent in most cases. One thing you can't buy or replace with any amount of money is time at home with the family. Especially kids. My oldest daughter is about to leave for college and I couldn't feel more guilty for the time I spent away from her working when she was younger. They did a slide show for each senior during graduation and I was only in one picture.. I used to envy men that earned good money and now I respect men that can find the balance between good earning and family time. Your thinking is good about your daughter. Not that traveling is bad but there is a balance. Jmho
