Wether you like it or not in Texas your job is most likely tied to the oil and gas industry... With a few exceptions. The tax revenue for Texas alone is huge. Bush and Perry were no heroes... Texas doesn't have all the taxes like California and others because we get so much revenue from oil and gas.

Think about it... Life was good at $5 gasoline. Every body was working. Ya it hurt a little at the pump but your wages and budgeting priorities would have adjusted had it stayed up.

The only thing propping the Texas economy up right now is O&G revenue. The politicians did not fix the Texas budget. The Eagle Ford Shale fixed the Texas budget.
