When my dogs get out I am more worried about my dogs. Mine got out but I noticed real fast. Down the road a guy has a couple Chihuahuas that just roam around getting into people's trash. I found my two dogs in his yard and no Chihuahuas.

The only other time my dogs got out I had animal control all over me and did not even get a kiss. While his dogs walked right by and they did not say a thing. On top of that I hate is dogs coming over and barking at me and getting my dogs upset.

Now nobody even saw my dogs and nobody knew anything. I never saw any hurt or dead yip yaps. But I could not just pretend nothing happened. So after a few days and his dogs were not around I walked down to find out if his dogs were hurt or missing. I just had to do the right thing. When I got down there the yip yaps came out barking at me. To be honest I was just glad my dogs had not hurt them because I can't hunt a dog that would do that.

The point is that you have to do what is right just like you are doing. A dog I would get rid of my dog but not over a cat. $400 cat I would give the $200 because they should not have an animal out like that. If they don't like it tell them to look at the leash law and don't give them anything. But to be honest it would come down to the neighbor for me. How good of a neighbor are they? If you have not had any problems before this I would trade the dog for another one so they think the dog is gone and give them $500. You might end up with a good neighbor.
