Charles, they are flesh eating beetles that are used to clean skulls and skeletons etc. You can keep a colony of them in captivity and use them to clean your skulls of all flesh. They're really good at removing any and all flesh from bones. They're used by the taxidermy industry a great deal,....never had any so I'm not much help about how to keep a colony but I'm sure the internet is full of info on how to do it.
