I believe range is a gene lol the ones with it usually start off that way but even pups that have good range usually go further and further say your pups short range now dont mean it wont end up med or long range. Most important is the dog stays working and not sitting by you or snoozing. If the pup is still short range after its 2 yr B-Day then I believe thats about as far out its gonna hunt. I run off and leave my dogs alot and they have figured out I always seem to find them thanks to Mr Garmin and I think that adds fonfidence we always come together and the know when they find a hog I am on my way. So in a nut shell your dog I believe will may never have alot of range but will probably have enough just keep it on hogs. Dont let the dog hang around pick you a limb and tear that azz up when it comes back make it get ahead or load it up but dont let it just hang out with you this is all my opinion.
