I used to love a small catch dog when I mainly hunted off horses. I would carry them in the saddle with me and ride right up on the bay and drop them off. I liked them around 35 to 40 pounds. I've got one now that is 9 months old and weighs about 25 to 30 pounds and I plan to use him out of the saddle unless he hits a late growth spurt.
