I like to use mule tape, I feel like I can get the legs closer together and cinch it down a little tighter.  Here is a video that shows how I typically tie one.  Many different ways to go about it but this process works good for me.

This is how I tie em up and it's worked good for me.  I'm talented enough to use the thick rope
