I have a registered Camp-A-While Catahoula. Small, no glass eyes, black and tan in color, nothing special. Most people wont give her a second look. She cant be bought and will lnever leave my yard. It took me 8 years to get her where she is at now and she has been on hundreds of hogs. Together, she and I have made her a hog dog.
They dont become hog dogs over night. Any breed and any line can make it with enough time and patience. Lots of people will tell you this and tell you that. You dont get good at this sport overnight. Get some well bred pups and hunt them for years. You will learn a lot about your dogs and more about yourself.
Look at it this way...you want good lines of dogs; you think those dogs want you?
It aint always about the line of dogs, it is more about the guy hunting the dogs.
