German dogs are my choice for "trainability".  GSP or GWP.  All of the good ones I've seen were a little hard headed.  They are high drive can be trouble when not worked or trained often.  I've seen a couple that were down right mean and destructive.

I've never owned a pure bred English Pointer.  Mine have been crosses of EPXLab and EPXbulldogs.  My EPXLab was the easiest dog to train that I've ever seen.

Here is my latest bird dog.  He is a Verein Deustch Drahthaar "Silas".
