Really I was wondering if bird dogs are actually trainable or just doing what comes natural to them.

With a good dog its both, I took a chocolate lab out for the 1st time today duck hunting and he retrieved every duck that hit the water and brought em right to me like a champ, only things I've trained him is sit lay shake stay heel come and of course he'll play fetch but as far as hunting today was his 1st time u couldn't tell it
