I've been trying to imagine what happened and I figure this...
We were hunting on a lease that borders the National Forest, which they burn a lot. The NF section we were hunting next to was burned last week, I think he somehow was caught in the fire. The lease we were on is all creek bottom and has a bunch of sloughs.
I bet as soon as he caught fire, he made the dash to the creek bottom and jumped in the first bit of water he could find. Just imagine seeing a hog on fire running through the woods and crashing into a creek. WOW!!
He really didnt have the stinky boar smell or he did not smell burn at all. Wierd...for sure.
