It's not about the money or the buckles I would say its about who is hunting the contest. The Tdha has hunters all over Texas that come out a lot more folks enter in Tdha contest. Bumpers is a good contest just not that many teams enter. Tdha has a lot more money involved but it goes to us as dog hunters to keep doing this great sport we call hunting with DOGS.
well hopefully next year they dont take the hunt away from the DOGS like they did last year, do to political pressure from outside. If they really are a dog driven association, they will allow barrs without limitations; because the hog DOGS that are out there hunting CANNOT tell the difference. They are just doing their jobs. The same jobs that TDHA is supposedly fighting for, yet they are being hypocrites in their own contest placing rules on an animal who cannot think for itself in the realms they are suggesting.
Sure we may disagree because of how you get land to hunt and how we do, but if everyone is in it for the sake of the dogs, these competitions have to get back to being centered around the DOGS, and less focused on the HOGS!
We talked to president and they said that all their hogs sold from the competition were used for legal fees; we suggested a 10 hog stringer next year. More hogs=more legal fee $$$ and the cream rises to the top in order to compete in that type of stringer.
I would love to have more respect, and see the TDHA tournament become the pinnacle of DOG hunting tournaments; but after this last year their are alot of us that dont feel that way anymore. Im not picking a fight, just expressing our opinions as the passionate dog hunters that our group and other like minded dog hunters have.
