LOL!!! Great stories and pics!!! Well here is how we got started....

A little background history...growing up we hunted deer, but nothing with dogs. Didnt really have a hog problem around us! When we moved out here about 5 years ago we heard a little about it but didnt really pay any mind to it! About a year and half ago my husbands boss gave him a dog...a brindle curr about 6 mnths old...he didnt want him because he was tearing everything up!! lol So my husband said he would take him. I kinda frowned on the deal because we already had 4 dogs that were pets and a barn full of horses...I think secretly he was wanting to start a pack of hog dogs!! I told him not no but HELL NO!! I didnt want a bunch of barking ass dogs chained all over our place!! And I didnt want to take a chance of them getting loose and running horses and all that. Well this pup, who we call Ammo, bayed everything in sight when he was turned loose! Drove me crazy!!! Well we had some friends down the road that had some hunting dogs and they invited us along to hunt one day...so we went. The hubby was all excited! Of course we didnt catch anything, but it kinda sparked my interest...I love being outdoors...so we started talking to an old timer thats a really good friend that used to hog hunt all the time. He said we could build a bay pen at his house to start our pup, Ammo. So we did. And now we are hooked!!!! From the first time we took him to the pen he bayed his ass off!!! And there was something about watching him work that I just loved! So we started taking him to the woods with our friends' dogs...poor guy didnt stand a chance. Hunted with them 6 months and never found a hog. The dogs would trash and of course him being young he just did what they did. The old timer told us we needed to stop hunting him with their dogs so we did. We didnt hunt him till we got a shock collar and found someone with a trash broke dog...Just so happened this friend had a dog given to him because this person owed him money...well he saw the potential in Ammo and let us have that dog to train pups with. Thats where Yella comes in the picture!! Another curr dog!! Now this dog is a different deal!!! When I say trash broke he is trash broke 100%...a lot of people say thats impossible but he is...it took us a while to figure out how to hunt him because he wouldnt really go out and hunt! Well we had gone back and hunted with those people again and he wouldnt hunt with their dogs because they trashed the whole time!! Needless to say they cussed our dog and said he was a p.o.s. because he wouldnt go out and hunt with their dogs!! He knew better! Sooo they dont speak to us anymore!! We have finally learned how to hunt him and he has found a ton of hogs for us and trained our pups well!! Ammo and Yella are are our main men!! Both BMCs! Thats all we run and will always run that breed!! Those friends gave us a mountain curr because they didnt like her, so we bred her to Ammo. We kept 2 pups out of them and they are awesome! Real gritty and at 8 months old already finding their own hogs!! The male is suicidal, he will catch anything! The female got hurt a while back so she will bay till the catch dog hits then she catches! SOOO needless to say me saying no to it all didnt last long!!! I absolutley love it!!! There is nothing better than seeing dogs you started and raised be so successful!!! Its as good as seeing a colt you train go on to be a winner!! Which that is all we used to do and still do some!! Sorry for long story!! It just amazes me how far us and our dogs have come over the last year!! We are by no means professionals but we love it and our dogs find hogs!! lol
