Back in Florida I had a second job at the county animal control. BELIEVE ME......the media is prone to calling every darn dog with a big head and short coat a 'pit bull.' I know this factually because everytime a bite case happened that was publicized, I'd be the one doing the X-21 on the dogs and I'd see them first hand. There were some 'bulldog' looking dogs occasionaly, but alot of them were obvious mixes. Media hype. They think 'dog attack' alone isn't appealing enough. Gotta be a 'pit bull' attack.
That and people who do own bulldog type dogs DO need to be 'extra' responsible with proper confinement, and socialization, just as with ANY breed of dog.
