To me I can see putting one in a pen once or twice but other than that let em learn on the ground. I think as long as they have older dogs to run with they will learn better this way. I don't have a pen or access to one so if I start pups my only option is put them with the older dogs and let them learn. The learning curve can be steep tho so a man has to be prepared and understand they are pups and learning so expect them to mess up time to time.
