if you're willing to spend $4k i'd do like Matt said and look around for a used one.  you can find em pretty regular.   if you're hunting mostly south texas, i'd go the mini truck route.  the one Mr. Mason has is super nice, and you can't beat A/C right about now, especially come June, July, and August.   JMO.
