I got the idea from the dog trade where some folks raise the price on a dog because of expenses...  

if it worked that way I would buy new cars every year and rent them out and then raise the price on them when I sold them as used cars, and I would be sure to include all the added expense of maintenance and gas consumption on top of the new price of the car...
