It's a dog that has not figured out how to strike a hog before your lead dog.. SO it's a dog that will go to the bay to help bay the hog that your lead dog has struck, so its good to have help dogs there to take hits from the hog so your lead dog don't get hit all the time...lol
While i do aknowledge that we all have our own opinions/deffinitions of what a help dog is i cant say that I or anyone I hunt with would agree with the statement that a "help is a dog that has not figured out how to strike a dog before your lead dog"......i have hunted with a countless number of helpdogs over the years that neither had the heart nor hunt to outstrike the main dog. To me the deffinition that i quoted from you is almost a spot on deffinition for a young started dog not a help dog and yes I do believe there is a huge difference......with age comes experience and with experience comes production more often than not.
