here is another way to look at it...if you take a 357 mag and one dog to the woods and you are confident that you will bring home the bacon you have a good hog dog...

if you take the same gun and take another dog to the woods and you feel like you are wasting your time then that dog is a cull or a me too dog...oops I meant to say help dog...

sometimes a good help dog can be what is needed to stop a hog pretty quick...might not strike a hog or will not hunt but will fly to a bay and that dog might be above average in keeping a hog from running...

just because a dog is good at finding a hog and sticking with it does not mean it is good at stopping a hog...but he will run a hog till it stops...
