Kevin, I guess you can make up your own definition, but that's not what a help dog is. A help dog is a dog with zero hunt and finding ability that is sent to a bay, or race, to help bay the hog. That's been common knowledge as far back as I can remember.

I agree to add to this I don't feed help dogs.  I always have some young dogs and I don't want any excuses for them to hang around and not be out getting into something!   I would rather them be out trashing than under my feet..... A dog that doesn't hunt encourages a pup to pick up the same lazy behavior.   I would rather a pup be out trashing and not make it to a bay, than be sitting around waiting on someone else to do his job, then show up and say me too!
