I have a lil blue pit that is short legged an he is great in cool or cold weather but not so good in heat he gets hot fast an you gotta watch him because he will strike his own hog so hot weather is not his friend
I'd add on to that and say make sure your dog has shade and lots of water to drink when it gets hot outside. We keep a large bucket of water inside our garage for our labs that they can drink out of when they please. We also have a pond for them to swim in so they stay pretty cool. If it's too hot they'll be in the house or they'll just stay inside the garage where it's cool.
Its not good to keep a working dog in the a/c during hot weather. If you don t keep them acclimated to the.heat, they will be more likely to have a heat stroke. Keeping them in good, trim working shape with adequate shade and water is best.
Really? I'd never heard that before. But then I've never had a dog have any problems with heat stroke so it shows you how much I know. During the day they're both outside probably most if not all of the time.
