I lost two this year. One to overheating & one a cut to the jugular. Like said above, carry water or ringers with you. both are good if a dog gets cut down or he overheats. You have to get fluid put back into them.
Shock is also a big killer.
I have lost two dogs that never had a mark on them also & I am thinking it was internal. I saw a young plott get hit by a big sow & she immediately bowed up. Took her to the vet & I was right. Busted spleen & more & she went into shock & died at the vets. The other a bulldog, We watched a big hog hit this dog going in & he caught the hog but he died three days later. Freak accidents or just unlucky.
