Sometimes you'll never have an issue with 'em, but depending on your terrain, they can get ripped/torn/snagged. When they do, they bleed a lot usually. A lot of folks just leave 'em be, but if/when I ever have any litters born and they have 'em I go ahead and remove them when they're a couple days old just to be done with it.
