I know a guy that used his dogs to coon hunt at night and hog hunt during the day, but these were cur dogs.  Sometimes it was hard to tell what you'd get hunting at night time whether a coon or hog.

The old style cur dogs were mostly meat dogs, they'd do it all to feed a family and if you put the time in em, they'll still do it today.
