While that does sounds like a heat stroke that is strange......I don't know how a dog could even get that hot in that distance....... I have heard from any and everyone that i've hunted with and been around that once a dog overheats the first time he is more suceptible to overheating again, I can't say that im 100% convinced that what happened was a simple case of a dog overheating though, that sure is strange......... wish the best for the dog and you. I personally would just hold him at the buggy until you have a solid bay and turn him to it a couple times.......not so much for him to help at the bay but more for you to be able to watch him closer to gauge how he acts the next couple times you put him on the ground.
