Rooster hope you dont mind me butting in just curious if you use your dogs on cattle Fl. style r Tx...I heard through the grapevine that you use lead dogs and have wondered every since..

This is my preferred way, bunch them up then call the dogs out and drive them. Leave the dogs heeled till cattle start trotting and get spread out. Then send dogs and hold them up again. It teaches the cattle to walk. However, it all depends on the situation and the cattle. If they are a bunch of idiots tryin to run off, then I will leave one or two ahead. Just depends on how many cows and on how much help you got. When I first moved here the old cows on this place didn't respect dogs very much. Each year though they have gotten better about bunchin up and drivin to the pens.
