the last couple of times I have seen dogs cut it was on the underneath side of their two frount legs and then both cut on the outside of the legs. There is not much material there. I know it gives more movement range but then again I think you are leaving a large hole open for the hog to get a tusk in. On larger longer leged dogs it will probally work great because their necks are long enough to keep their legs out of the way of the teeth but on smaller to medium dogs which is what most pits are I do not see it working well. On L3's dane and dane cross this will probally be the only thing you would need.
