There are two places a dog gets hit and will usually kcick the bucket before you get them to a vet. A heart shot and a shot to the jugular () vein.  The only problem i see with the vest is there is no coverage of the heart from a upswep shot. If the dog is tall he will be hit under the coverage of the vest. If he is short hes already off the ground and gets under the vest. We have had 2 dogs killed from heart shots last year. Just my 2 cents
