The original breed standard listed cropping to avoid damage and giving prey an easy handle to grab on to. Again, that said, I didn't crop mine, and don't think it's of great significance either way. I hadn't thought of the ears keeping junk out. That's one plus of not cropping. I had a crop eared dogo at one time, and I can say that the public looked at her very differently than my natural eared male. So for me it's a plus that I can take them out in public without seeing the fear of God in people's eyes.
