I have seen good labs that could blood trail with the best of them. Blood trailing is one of those things that lots of breeds fit the bill and can do the job well. Never seen a lab that could stay with a runner 20 miles. Never seen a cur that could swim a mile in rough seas either while carrying a duck in his mouth. Different breeds bred for different jobs that have a job or 2 in common.
