A lot of people think just because a dog runs out there and bays a hog every now and then it's a hog dog but that's not usually the case. A hog dog is one you can put down and If it's been a hog there it's going to find it somewhere and be bayed next time you get within hearing distance of it regardless of where it has to go. And a hog dog at the end of the day when your ready to go you don't worry about the hog everyone is trying to catch that dog because he has done put on a show. And another way to tell when you have a hog dog is when you and people you hunt with go to doing some serious culling because everything else is really just in the way of this dog. That's when you have a hog dog.
