It depends on what you want the final out come to be. If your looking for something your wife can carry and be the primary user of for self defense etc. I would get a hammerless revolver. It wont jamb and will go bang or to the next cylinder every time the trigger is pulled. A semi-auto is more user involved so to speak. Now if you plan on running reload/mal function drills with her id get a glock. They are bulky but they work. Ive carried one for 9 years that I trust not only my life with but also the public's. I also have two of my own because the reliability is there. If you get a 9mm for your wife you can always feed it .380s for a little less pop. If you do go glock though, don't fire straight lead through it, the barrels don't like non jacketed bullets.
