I'd say 9mm, either a glock or beretta px4. My ol lady loves the px4, it feels like you're shooting a bb gun and it has the external safety the glock doesn't. If you go with a 9mm I'd suggest stocking up real good on ammo. If another panic hits, you can forget about getting 9mm ammo unless you wanna camp out at the sporting goods store like they do for Iphones.
