he originally used Bruno as the foundation stud in an attempt to create something called the Catahoula bulldog. then I later saw him chew some guy out for even mentioning something as ridiculous as a Catahoula bulldog. what a card. he sent me a handwritten pedigree on posterboard once. it contained dogs that were registered plotts he got from berlin king. it showed two or three kemmer gyps he got directly from Robert kemmer. I definitely remember him breeding to a leopard cow dog of some variety. and yes . . as you mentioned . . he borrowed a yellow July from Rex Bowers in Mocksville, NC. the dog was named Rowdy and I've heard more than one dog man say he was the best looking hound that ever lived. the last few times I spoke with him he didn't seem to care what a dog did . . he just let em run loose and would sit outside in the evening listening to em run whatever. he told me to my face in his living room that the last couple generations he produced had July in em. the dog in that picture above looks like it has a july head to me. but who knows. I saw a dominecker rooster the other day and guessed it was half dalmation. I truly miss howard being around.
