The poly in my mind serves the same purpose as a lock. It keeps honest folks honest. There are plenty of folks here trying to make a name for theirselves in one way or another. Today everyone wants to be famous even if it's only in a 30 mile radius. Just look at any social media and even here on this page. Everyone has a crew and thinks their crew is the best around. The old guys aren't for the most part doing this. It's the younger guys. A few older guys are just as bad. The money is not the real prize it's the bragging rights. If I was not an officer in the ADHA I woulda entered the tournament for S&H'/s and giggles. I wouldn't have cared if I won. I hunt because I love it. I dang sure ain't gonna get paid or get famous for hog hunting with world class dillo dogs. We the ADHA chose to do the poly test to help ensure fairness and prevent the possibility that someone could accuse our event of being rigged. We went as far as excluding all officers from competing. We have outside independent judges for all events from treeing to weigh in.
