You have a point, but you are missing mine. If I am hunting where a 650 Kaw can drive, the catch dog will be on the back of the wheeler. I have been in situations hunting wheeler, with other people on horseback. The hog is caught and tied before us on the wheelers showed up. Mine can only run about 50 mph though... Maybe the Kaw running 60 could have gotten me there faster than the horses.
If you are in the thick nasties you would be walking and leading the RCD, he then becomes a typical catch dog. If you are hunting the wide open where a four wheeler is capable, then he would be clipped. If you are horseback, he is with you. Some people go so far as to lead their dog beside the horse, I don't want to bother with that.
One other thing. My dogs hunt fairly close. If I don't see them in front of me, I am waiting to hear them. If I cannot hear them for a few minutes, I am tracking to them. I am not able to own long range dogs like some. The properties I hunt do not allow for them.
