I am saying when I send bulldogs to bay they are missing on initial hit. Hog breaks and we run it another 2 or 3 hours and might bay it again or might not. Either way you are losing hogs either that particular hog or others that you could have been after during this 2 or 3hour chase. I run bay dogs not rcd's or rough curs. Yes they will put their outh on a hog after the bulldogs catches and then they will leave when I get there.
I am just trying to up my odds without going to rough curs cause that ain't gonna happen.
I have experienced the same thing. I fixed it by adding a tighter baying dog to the mix. I think a large part of my problem was having a 60 pound missile blazing through the brush to a hog with one or two real loose dogs baying. The hog's attention would shift to all the noise coming at it, and that hog that's been sitting there resting for a few minutes is gone with the wind before the bull dog even had a chance to make contact.
