I was just having some fun T-Bob. Sort of a running joke with a grouchy old friend who is also a member of this site. I'm not knocking anyone or their dogs. Just seems like every line of yellow dogs I know of has black, blue, brindle and spotted dogs behind it . . and vise versa for Lacys and Catahoulas . . so I always get a kick when I hear folks discussing their purebred dogs or commenting that this type is awesome and that type sucks. I have several other pics of Woodruff and his dogs that his widow gave to me. The others are all yellow or black, both of which are considered (and can be registered as) acceptable BMC colors. But the spots mean they are cross bred! Nowhere else in the world (that I know of) uses lead or head dogs the way they are used in Texas and the surrounding ares . . so it's a hard pill for me to swallow that old timers developed three separate breeds within a few years of each other and all within a couple hundred mile radius. And if you believe the rhetoric . . . the Lacys don't even share ANY common ancestry with the other two. Anyway . .

Lewis Woodruff (horseback in blue shirt) a few years later with a dog of a different color. Take a look at the woolly hair on that hog . . looks like a brown sheep.
