My kennels have a roof, so I dont worry about a dog hanging themself-but, if I didnt have a roof, I may look into some breakaway type collar. There may not be such a thing as a breakaway collar, but there may be a material out there that has a low breaking strengh so that if a dog did hang them self, it would break. You could then use the regular dayglow and put it on a dog when they are out of the kennel. Just a thought! I actually thought of the idea while reading this post. I umpire baseball during the summer and kids are now wearing breakaway necklaces. The leagues allow it becuase the necklace has two magnets that connect. The breaking strength is very low.

Im not sure magnet would work on a dog collar- everything the dog scratches thier neck- the collar would probably come off.
