To me it sounds like a throttle position sensor. That can cause eradic idle. Only question I have is when u are running at speed and it revs does the truck respond? Go faster till it idles back.

No, it seems to just stay the same speed just the rpms jump and the engine revvs...

Now that yaw brought that up, and you saying the rpm's increase, but no speed changes.
That's another thing my dad's 01 is doing. But that only when it's cold, and settles down after the engine warms up.

Mrs. Dianna, does your truck do the same thing, act odd and somewhat fix its self after it warms up?
