i start my huntin blade edges on my grinder on low speed with a 220 grit belt and finsh em on diamond stonesup to 600 grit.and then strop; ,y kitchen knives are all done on diamond .
 dont remember but you can pic up the lansky set at bass pro and the likes for around 50 bucks, main thing is dont let your edges get in bad condition to start and most are easy to maintain a good edge.
