Something else to add- I believe there are a lot of great help dogs out there that could make good find dogs if given the chance. Many of us use our main dogs to start with and we never bring out the full potential of the great started dog. I make a point to give everyone one of my dogs a lot of chance to find a hog on thier own.
This is a great point +1000. Learned this the hard way. Used to always put my main strike dog down by himself and he was very good at finding a pig, then he got killed and I started using his litter mate to strike and he turned out even better and was better at stopping the hog. When you run multiple dogs there is always that alpha male syndrome and it effects them.
