I hit the wrong button on my ph. before I got the story on here. Went & made a hunt with my old time hunting buddy Charlie & two friends Chance & Blake. Charlie & I each turned two dogs a piece out & it was not long they struck. They bayed not long after & we went in & turned the catch dog loose. The hog or hogs broke before he got there & we headed out only to find Red Gal bayed by the truck. We knew Catch would get there pretty fast & we headed over there to find caught hog. That is the first hog of the day. Red Gal is just 15 months old & really clicking.
Charlies dogs were running & they were soon out of pocket. We waited around for a little while & then I cast a couple of dogs in the opposite direction. Flash & Jack struck about 400 yards in & that is the last we saw of them for several hours.
Charlies dogs came thru & bayed & Charlie, Blake & Chance went in & caught 120# sow. Charlies dogs rolled out & I cast a couple of mine into his & they ran about a hour or so & bayed. We went in & caught about a 225# black boar & this hog really did a number on my Bosco dog & Charlies smoke dog. We liked to never have got the bleeding stopped on Charlies dog. We barred the boar & headed out.
Jack & Flash had split up after running several hours & we could hear Flash coming our way. We went down the road & sent some dogs to him. They ran several more hours & split up. Finally around 4:00 or so we had a bay. We went in & caught the red boar with a couple of spots on him. 2 of Charlies dogs & 3 of mine were on this boar. We barred him & headed out.
My Red Gal gyp was showing treed a mile in so we hurried up & found a 4 wheeler trail going almost right to her. It was around 5:30 and getting dark. She was across a slew & we could hear the pig squealing. Thanks to Chance & Blake for crossing the slew & getting the pig & Red Gal. Chance said she was proud of that pig. She was laying down next to the pig with a foot over it. lol She had been running most of the day.
