strike–dog
noun
:the dog of a pack that customarily first closes with game —called also striker
To me it's the dog (in any pack) that finds the majority of hogs that are bayed/caught/killed.
Doesn't have to be a long range burn up the woods kinda dog....lots of different styles of hunting...if you've got one particular dog that starts (strikes) a majority of time, he's your strike dog, regardless, lol.
