It's called being a pup. I would bet when he is on track going the right way he loses it. Then he circles back and picks up the track running backwards. He follows till he loses it again. I would give him more time.

14 months is dang sure still a pup. I would be glad to see him working the track at that age. No matter which way he's headed. Now its just a matter of seeing if he will get all the kinks worked out or not. Sounds like he's off to a good start though especially if he sometimes will strike,run,stop and bay one by himself sometimes. Good luck !!
