i believe a 300 i6 has gears,no chain
I think ur right too, but iv seen timing gears be 2-3 teeth off after a couple 100,000 miles, which comes from excessive wear from the crappy steel they were made from. But with his only having 1/4 of the miles on it, it shouldnt be the timing but he has went through the other possible causes. What he is describing sound more of a timing issue then a spark issue if not timing, which both go hand in hand.
Mr whitten, did u pull the distributor all the way out? Could the bevel gear on the distro be worn or possibly jumped a couple teeth? O know most distros have a roll pin holding the gear in place. It could hav sheared off throwing ur timing way off
