Rock was more Kamakazee style than I would have liked actually. When he was turned loose he went THROUGH anything between him and the hog instead of around it......he got a little better with age, but was still wide open. Rock is close to 75-80 lbs so he definately was an anchor when he got there.....and required a break stick to get him off.

I never free cast him on hogs, I led him in until we saw the hog or were within 50 feet or so, then turned him loose. He ALWAYS wore a cut collar and vest...always. As soon as we had the hog tied, I would drop the vest off him to cool him down. Often, in the summer, I would soak the vest in water before I put it on him to help keep him cool. Course, more times than not I was the one carrying the wet smelly vest back to the truck....

I like the red pup too Noah. She is smart ....always watching me and whats going on, more so than the ringneck.  I like a smart dog, makes it easier to teach things to.
