I like concrete the best...just put a good slope to it for when it rains or when you wash down...and for shade set the top from east to west and towards the south on account the sun is rises in the east and sets in the west but comes across the sky slightly to the south...so putting the roof make sure it is towards the south side...
I very seldom have to worm the dogs and the fleas are mostly always under control...set an auto watering system to the pens and the work load will be lessened.
