about 4 summers ago, my bulldog Catch had a heat stroke after a lengthy battle of about an hour. One of my hunting buddies put a IV on him from his cut kit and he was up and walking minutes later. That is something we should all learn to use and have handy when needed.

I hear ya. I had two dogs heat stroke on me several years ago. One died in the field and the other one was able to hang in there until we got to the vet. The first thing the vet did was hook up an IV with saline solution and he was able to lift his head a couple of minutes later. That moment was the first sign that he might make it and he evntually did. A couple weeks ago I started carrying a 500ml IV bag with me in the field and have a 1000ml bag in the truck.
